Informatica El Corte Ingles, a pioneer in one-click online banking registration
The company is developing a real-time videoconference identification solution that allows users to process all formalities to obtain an operational account in a bank, in a few minutes and without going to the office.

Informatica El Corte Ingles is launching its financial sector digital onboarding solution, which allows users to register and start operating with a bank from a mobile device, in a few minutes, without filling in or printing any forms, and by just answering a few simple questions.

The process is started from any of the channels (PC, mobile phone, tablet) with the procurement of basic data that will enable the biometric identification of the person, in this case, through an image that is transmitted via videoconference. The next step is the capture of both sides of any identification document that is legally accepted for opening an account, and that must include a photograph. Risk analysis is essential in this process, where personal and professional data is checked, and international lists for fighting terrorism and money laundering verified, a process that the onboarding technology developed by Informatica El Corte Ingles manages with great agility. The subsequent biometric and document scoring contributes all necessary information for identification, as well as evidence that the person is alive.

This solution is a response to the new identification scenario for off-site clients presented in March 2016 by SEPBLAC (Executive Service of the Commission for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Monetary Offences). It is based on microservices, enabling financial entities to configure their own solution, tailor-made to meet its own needs, together with a pay-per-use model to ease implementation.

For Manuel Calderón, in charge of the Cybersecurity Area at Informatica El Corte Ingles, this technological solution enables a fast coverage of client recognition needs, in this era of ubiquitous access through mobile phones. "We operate with a technology that is non-intrusive for users and scalable depending on the needs of the bank". He adds that the current technological developments make so many controls possible that they easily surpass regulatory requirements. "It is possible, at the time of capture, to register more biometric identification elements and carry out identity verifications in different channels, such as voice, in other digital banking operations".

Biometric verification of people and document validation of personal data through digital onboarding facilitates conversion of clients of financial entities. "Being able to digitally identify people changes the way you relate to them, not only because of the onboarding process itself, but because of the possibility of offering customised services", highlights Gonzalo Gómez Lardies, in charge of Digital Strategy and Innovation in Financial Services at Informatica El Corte Ingles.

Recent studies have shown that almost 40% of registrations are abandoned, which indicates that the onboarding stage is critical to a financial entity. For this reason, it is crucial to make the execution of the process compatible with a satisfactory user experience, as it will ultimately determine its relationship with the entity, and its loyalty.

The current functionalities of Informatica El Corte Ingles as a Regulatory Technical Office (State Secretary for the Information Society and Digital Agenda) for providers of electronic services, are key to the operation, benefits, flexibility, and agility of this solution, which is operated with the idea of the company as a strategic partner of the digital transformation of the banking sector.
