IECISA participates with One female engineer in each school
To collaborate in the incorporation of female talent to the ICT professions and to the careers of the scientific-technological branch, IECISA professionals will share their experience with schoolchildren.

Zaragoza, February 21, 2020.-

The initiative One female engineer in each school launched by AMIT-Aragon will count on IECISA IT professionals again. The technology consultant thus consolidates its commitment to the Association of Women Researchers and Technologists, AMIT-Aragón, which has presented the fifth edition of this program. In the next few days some of the scientific and technological professionals of IECISA will share their profession and work to the primary students of the educational centers of Aragon. The objective of this project is to help break the gender gap and increase the presence of women in the branches of science, engineering and technology.

Several studies carried out in recent years show that girls refuse from an early age to study sciences and to specialize in technologic branches. According to different sources, some of the aspects that influence this situation are the ignorance, the lack of professional models and the stereotypes. To fight against those circumstances, IECISA collaborate in this edition of One female engineer in each school with the personal testimony of the female professionals at the  educational centers. Esperanza García Dono, from IECISA Aragón, confirmed the collaboration of the technology consultant, which will be formalized in the next weeks with the presence of the IECISA professional in the schools to share their experience and make visible the contribution of women to the science and technology.

The presentation of this initiative promote by AMIT Aragón has been chaired by José Antonio Mayoral, Chancellor of Zaragoza University and has had the presence of Ana Montagud, Director General of Planning and Equity of the Department of Education, Culture and Sports - Government of Aragon; Mª Jesús Lázaro, Delegate of CSIC in Aragón; Raquel Trillo, Deputy Director of Students of Engineering and Architecture School of Zaragoza University and María Villarroya, Chairwoman of AMIT-Aragón.

IECISA is committed to female talent, to the inclusion of more women to TIC sector and to encourage their presence in STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) from early school. The technology consulting company has been fully involved in this initiative so that its engineers can participate in the project during their working day, which it will not be vacation neither will not have a negative impact on their work.

Driving female talent, IECISA has carried out different activities to address the gender gap in its sector. These included a debate forum on how to increase the number of women working in technology companies and support for initiatives to raise the visibility of female talent in science, technology, engineering and mathematical professions. The promotion of events for schools (at centres of education or IECISA offices), with the participation of Company employees, forms part of this commitment, which has its own campaign on social media.
