Avanza 2009 Programme comprehends different R&D&i projects developed by IECISA and co-funded by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.

All the projects listed below have been co-funded by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade under the Avanza Competitiveness Plan (RD&I) and within the National Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation Plan for 2008-2011

PLETORA Project

The PLETORA project (Electronic Processing, Organisation and Archiving Platform) has been developed by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the Avanza Plan for 2009, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for industrial research projects and experimental development, key TSI-020100-2009-268, in project mode or through individual actions.

The work done under the PLETORA project has enabled the incorporation of new technologies, components and features into the document technology product line, which IECISA has been maintaining and developing for over 16 years.

The PLETORA project has been structured into three sub-projects:

1. Unified Digital Archive System: The result of which has been the construction of a unified digital archive platform, which includes the concept of "file" and its integral processing with custody, security, integrity, format transfer, authenticity, confidentiality, quality, protection and preservation capacities, and which ensures compliance with international archive standards like Moreq2, and whose SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) enables the integration of the digital archive into ECM platforms and other external systems.

2. Electronic Payment, Notification and Certification Platform: This has enabled the expansion of the e-Government services catalogue for citizens developed by Informática el Corte Inglés under the Avanza Plan for 2008. The payment platform is built into the payment services provided by the Public Agency Red.es, while the notification platform is built into the SNTS (Secure Telematic Notification System). These payment, notification and certification platforms are built with SOA architecture to enable them to be integrated into other systems, like file processing systems, and they make use of the architecture and technology guidelines defined for building IECI's access and electronic register platform.

3. Electronic Tendering Platform: Aimed at building an electronic tendering platform, integrated with all other e-Government services, like the register or electronic notification. It has all the services necessary to resolve interactions with bidders through electronic means, and can guarantee the legal requirements provided for that purpose, especially the provisions of Law 30/2007 of 30 October, on Public Sector Contracts.

In short, the development of the PLETORA project has strengthened the line of Informática El Corte Inglés products that provide an efficient solution to the major problem encountered by Public Administrations in 2010: Citizens' access to the services the administrations are called upon to provide through electronic means, supplying the necessary applications to fulfil the IT function in terms of "e-Government".

ITRACON Project

The ITRACON project has been developed by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the Avanza Plan for the year 2009, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for industrial research projects and experimental development, key TSI-020100-2009-274, in project mode or through individual actions.

With the development of this project we have tried to integrate different hardware suppliers into the RFID systems environment, providing new solutions to make the components of the development processes independent from each other, in order to facilitate identification, traceability and control within a sales management system.

The ultimate goal of the project is to respond, from a technology perspective, to the need to innovate in the field of integration and provide solutions in the RFID components environment.

From a functional perspective, the project has been developed with the objective of achieving the traceability of items for sale as a unit, from their arrival at the warehouse to their departure as a sale.

SCOGE Project

The SCOGE project has been developed by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the Avanza Plan for the year 2009, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for industrial research projects and experimental development, key TSI-020100-2009-276, in project mode or through individual actions.

The main objective of this project is to develop a suite of components or Complementary Management Services (SCOGE, after the Spanish initials) to solve certain problems or deficiencies which we have identified and decided to resolve throughout our experience implementing SAP solutions.

Listed below are the components we want to develop within the SCOGE suite:

  • Editing Tool: With the development of this component we solve the problems and facilitate the tedious work of incorporating and integrating documents with heterogeneous formats into a single publication. Examples of types of publications that can be generated with the Editing Tool: Creation of Budgets, Expenditure Executions or Income Statements for organisations that use SAP as an Economic and Financial Management System.
  • Signature Console: This enables the digital signature of documents, both individual and en masse, from an SAP system. The signature console enables integration with different signature solutions like @firma, CatCert, etc.
  • Invoice Register and Electronic Invoice: This solves the problems of electronic billing in XML facturae format, from the point of view of both the invoice sender and the receiver. It lets us automate the invoice creation process in the target system, guaranteeing its authenticity and custody.

ATENEA Project

The ATENEA project has been developed by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the Avanza Plan for the year 2009, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for industrial research projects and experimental development, key TSI-020100-2009-335, in project mode or through individual actions.

The ATENE@ project (Telematic Applications for Public Entities and Companies) is intended to create an application that enables Public entities to create and manage their inventories, as well as to receive information and manage data from the various Regional and Local Bodies for its subsequent processing and obtaining information. Within the framework of new technologies it should be able to evolve toward obtaining performance indicators for the various Public entities.

That objective has become a way to respond to real information needs as well as an efficient tool to transform information into knowledge in Public Entities, for decision-making on a completely practical, integrated and global level.

Ultimately, this objective has been characterised by the information society, in terms of the priority given to rapid information access and in reducing the processing times for all kinds of information, without affecting confidentiality or security in executing transactions.

ODITOFI Project

The project objective is to develop interactive systems for DTT standards with on-demand video support and downloading applications on the broadband return channel for creating interactive websites with applications that use the internet as a communication environment. The project includes the development of interactive services and on-demand video for devices with high-definition support.

The project is led by IECISA, and includes RTVE, RTVA, TV3, Abertis Telecom, Activa Multimedia, Net2U, Investrónica, Optiva Media, Lambdstream, SDI Digital, Magibox Interactive, Engel, the Balearic Islands University, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the University of Malaga.

MCODA Project

The MCODA project (Mass Customisation: On Demand Apparel), has been led by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the AVANZA Plan for the years 2009-2010, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for industrial research projects and experimental development, key TSI-02011-2009-272 in project mode or through co-operative actions.

The main objective of the MCODA project (Mass Customisation of On Demand Apparel for the Internet of the Future) is to develop a standard platform of advanced services that will enable textile industry SMEs to market customised apparel through ultra-broadband networks. The project includes everything from the development of the capture and management system of the 3D virtual changing room to the advanced on-demand online production and marketing platform.

The project is led by IECISA and includes Fiables IT Outsourcing Services, Metria Digital, Soluciones Antropométricas, Teikhos Tech, and the organisations of the VICOMTECH Visual Interaction and Communication Technology R+D Centre and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

PLIFED Project

The PLIFED project (Future Internet Platform for Sports Events) has been joined by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the AVANZA Plan for the years 2009-2010, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for industrial research projects and experimental development, key TSI-020501-2009-813, in project mode or through co-operative actions.

The project aims to create an interactive services platform for television to facilitate the development of applications and services for sports broadcasts, from event information to real-time statistics. The project will develop demo apps for major sports broadcasts, including MotoGP, Formula1 and Football.

The project is led by MSL Software, and includes IECISA, Magicbox Interactive, Acubo, La Sexta, RTVE (Teledeporte) and the Vicomtech R+D organisations and the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

MULTILEARNING Project

The MULTILEARNING project, Educational Services Platform for the Migration of Learning Objects in Scorm to other Devices (DTT, Mobile phones, Consoles), has been joined by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the AVANZA Plan for the years 2009-2010, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for industrial research projects and experimental development, key TSI-020312-2009-31, in project mode or through co-operative actions.

The project aims to develop solutions and tools or organisational processes and methods for the creation, editing, storage, electronic distribution and reuse of digital content of an educational nature for interactive digital television and other platforms. The project includes the implementation of a demonstrator for certain sectors of production.

IECISA has joined as a project member along with Fortec (co-ordinator), the Aragón Institute of Technology, Net2You and Andimat.

MI STB Project

The MI STB (Modern Interoperable Set-top Box DTT Interactive) project has been joined by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the AVANZA Plan for the years 2008-2009, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for industrial research projects and experimental development, key TSI-020501-2008-144, in project mode or through co-operative actions.

MI STB DTTi is an experimental product-development project focussing on the area of digital content. Its main objective is to develop a prototype DTTi receiver, including a decoder version and a built-in device for televisions, which will unquestionably foster the creation of content and digital services for television with a standard market view. The project has generated prototypes and validation tests in HTML and MHP environments.

The project consortium consists of the following companies and institutions: SDI Digital S.L. (Co-ordinator), Informática El Corte Inglés S.A., BCN Distribuciones, SIDSA, Secuenzia Pixels S.L. and La Salle University, HYC S.L.

TRAZA ALIMENTARIA Project

The TRAZA ALIMENTARIA project, has been joined by Informática El Corte Inglés within the framework of the AVANZA Plan for the year 2009, in the Avanza R&D Sub-programme for digital content and ICT solutions for SMEs, key TSI-020515-2009-17, in project mode or through co-operative actions.

The Traz@limentaria 2009 project aims to implement a food traceability management system in 50 SMEs in the wine, meat, preserves, oil, dairy products and samples laboratories sectors which are responsible for food quality management and waste treatment.

The tools placed at the service of the food sector SMEs enable not only improved productivity but also compliance with the current Food Traceability control regulations, implementing a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points System, or HACCP (Royal Decree 2207/95 for the establishment of self-control measures in the implementation of a HACCP, and their compulsory nature as per Royal Decree 202/200) and the monitoring of product traceability.

The European Union made it mandatory for food sector companies to have a system verifying the traceability of their products as of 1 January 2005. The "Food Law" (EC Regulation 178/2002 of the European Parliament and Council which lays down the principles and general requirements of food legislation) establishes the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and includes the various procedures to be followed. Traceability, as a guarantee of the origin of food and especially of transparency, should prevent fraudulent practices and the adulteration of consumer products.
